Designer essence – Marni set to launch it’s first fragrance

25 Oct

It seems that fragrances are the ‘thing’ to do in fashion industry this days! After showing his power to the mass market with a sold-out collection for H&M, the italian fashion house Marni just announced the upcoming release of their debut fragrance.

Yep, next february we’re expecting that all label fans might want to smell like the brand too. Oh, well it seems that Marni essence is reported to be quite unique.

“The perfume reflects Marni’s fashion, certainly. Because it’s a perfume that’s quite individual, that doesn’t evoke anything in particular. It’s for a woman who dresses for herself, who doesn’t follow trends but is sophisticated and also maybe a little eccentric”,added Consuelo Castiglioni, Marni’s creative director.

Contained in an adorably chic polka dot print bottle, the perfume is said to smell like a “blend of spicy and woody notes” combined with “an intense rose oil to inject voluptuousness.”, said Veronique Gabai-Pinsky, global brand president of Aramis and Designer Fragrances, who has partnered with Marni in licensing and creating the innovative fragrance.

Also, the scent is encapsuled in a round reminiscent of vintage bottle Castiglioni founded two decades ago at a flea market. As for the polka dots covering the glass container? “Dots are part of our world,” explained Castiglioni.

The line will also consist different bottle sizes, but also a body lotion, shower gel, body cream and a purse spray that comes with an adorable “Huggy” doll, sporting the same polka dots as the bottle itself.

The campaign features brazilian model Raquel Zimmermann shot by photographed by Nick Knight.

The launch of Marni fragrance puts the house in a place among other designers in Estee Lauder’s perfume portfolio, including Tory Burch, Donna Karan, and Coach.
