Northern Lights, the new holiday look from Yves Saint Laurent

Yves Saint Laurent presents Northern Lights, the new makeup line for 2012.

Inspired by the majestic shimmering swirls of the northern lights in the evening sky, YSL‘s Holiday Look provides a glimpse into a magical evening to achieve the signature radiance for the holiday season.

The limited edition YSL Boreal Palette Arctic Night make-up palette was inspired by the Aurora Borealis, or northern lights. Lloyd Simmonds, creative director of Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, said they moved him to “create this collection of intense colors, shot through with violet and midnight blue and sprinkled with slivers of pearl, like a star-filled night.

There are many ways to use the Boreal Palette Arctic Night: create a smoky plum halo around the eyes with a touch of frosty blue at the inner corners, or apply the midnight blue in a smoky line along the upper lash line and sculpt a shadow in the hollows under the brow bone.

Boreal Palette Arctic Night (Pure Chromatics): wet and dry eye shadow. Use wet for a chromatic transformation. Water enhances color pigments in Pure Chromatics. When used wet, the water activates the pigments and gives full intensity to their color. The effect is the satiny powder transforms into a luxurious cream while pearls shine with a metallic finish.

Highlighter Palette Polar Light: a highlighter that adds a radiant glow to the prominent parts of the face: forehead, temples, cheekbones and even the decollete. This collector edition comes in a luxury sequin pouch.

Golden Gloss 56 Polar Pink & Golden Gloss 55 Arctic Blue: contains 0.2% of 24 carat gold. The gloss forms a mirror-effect on the lips which sparkles with mother-of-pearl. A complex of nourishing oils (Nigelle and Cameline Oils) protects the lips while providing total comfort.

Luxurious Mascara Shocking Volume Deep Plum:  Yves Saint Laurent reveals an innovative brush with an ample helix cut that captures an ideal dose of formula, has multi-directional bristles to draw the formula to the brush for an instant release, and has an asymmetric shape to capture all lashes for amazing length and curl.

La Laque Couture Première Neige Top Coat N°33: Apply over any base, natural or dark. Its changing lunar highlights give the base colour a new twist, adorning it with a festive, magical sparkle.

Cream Eyeliner Gold Lamé: The cream formula glides on smoothly with the specially designed liner brush giving you more control and time to perfect your look before it dries. You can either use it as an eyeliner or apply it as a point of light on the inner corners of the eyes, or as a gold lamé shadow all over the eyelids for a glowing effect.
